The ninth episode of Dragon Ball Daima, broadcast in Japan on December 6, 2024, is a light-hearted bridge episode. The freshly won Dragon Ball ends up in the hands of two thieves, the two halves of the group finally meet, and in the First Demon World Arinsu's first creature is born: Majin Kuu.

Summary

Exhausted, Goku and his companions stop at a hotel because Panzy insists on a bath. Goku wears a bear hat so nobody will recognize him, but when he takes it off to scratch his head, two bandits realize he is the kid who beat the Tamagami. That night, while the group is distracted by a commotion in the lobby, one of them, turned into a werewolf, creates a diversion while his partner breaks in through the window and flies off with the Dragon Ball. Luckily Panzy had stuck a tracker on it: Goku catches up with the thieves, recovers the ball after a chase, and Glorio ties them up with an electric whip before hurling them far away.

On the other side of the Third World, Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma and Hybis find that their ship has been stolen, almost certainly by the thugs Vegeta roughed up the night before at a club. To pass the time, Hybis suggests a zombie hunt in the forest, and Bulma declines. Then she notices an eye moving on Hybis' belt buckle: he says he found it in the mountains long ago.

In the First World, Gomah learns that the shrunken warriors have entered the Demon Realm and that one of them has already beaten a Tamagami. Furious, he orders Degesu to do something and once again regrets not wishing for the Third Eye. Meanwhile Goku's group reaches Vegeta's, but the ship is too small for everyone: Panzy asks her father to send another one and Goku leaves for the Second World. As soon as they go, the thugs return with backup to get even; Vegeta and Piccolo deal with them and make them reveal where they hid the ship.

At her home, the witch Marba adds a Saibaman seed to her cauldron and completes the new creature, which she names Majin Kuu. Arinsu immediately orders him to defeat Tamagami Number One, the First World's guardian, and take its Dragon Ball, to see whether he is worth anything. Kuu answers with a single word: "Understood".

Our take

"Thieves" is a small episode, almost a breather between two Tamagami trials, but it is written with care. The chase for the stolen Dragon Ball is a minute of old-school adventure, and Panzy's tracker confirms her role as the group's Bulma. Vegeta and Piccolo's run-in with the thugs shows how different the second team is: less talk, more slaps.

The detail not to miss is the eye on Hybis' belt, dropped in like a gag and destined to matter a great deal. And Kuu's birth, with that Saibaman seed recalling the first enemies of the Saiyan Saga, is one of the many links to the past that Daima is full of.
