The tenth episode of Dragon Ball Daima, broadcast in Japan on December 13, 2024, takes the group into the Second Demon World, a world of endless oceans. Between an air raid and a giant kraken, the episode stops on the Namekians' original homeworld for a long stretch of mythology: the story of the Demon Realm, the Glind and the birth of the universes.
Summary
In the First World, Majin Kuu challenges Tamagami Number One with unpredictable moves, but cannot even scratch it and ends up giving in. A disappointed Arinsu fires him, and he tries to prove he is useful: he sings well, he is fast, he can do the shopping. Meanwhile Vegeta, Bulma, Piccolo and Hybis, having recovered their ship, head for the Warp Lord. Bulma discovers that her child skin is wonderfully soft and wonders whether she should stay this way; when Hybis asks her to be his girlfriend, Vegeta cuts in to remind him that they are married and will become adults again together.
Through the Warp Lord, Goku's group enters the Second World, where the air is no longer heavy and the ship flies fast. Five Gendarmerie aircraft attack without warning: Glorio is not used to aerial combat, so Goku has him open the hatch and downs them one after another with the Power Pole and energy blasts. Then a kraken rises from the sea, grabs the ship with a tentacle and crushes it. Everyone jumps out, but Panzy goes back for the Dragon Ball and gets trapped: Goku saves her just before the monster swallows the ship whole.
On foot, the group decides to wait for the others on the Demon Realm's Namek, identical to the one Goku knows but deserted ever since the Namekians fled. Goku eats one of the healing bugs from the shop, senses Vegeta's arrival and uses Instant Transmission to warn him about the krakens. Piccolo finds the place strangely familiar, even though it was his ancestors who lived there. The Supreme Kai explains that the Namekians, prized for their abilities, were treated as slaves, which is why they left.
Then he tells his own story. Long ago, a good Supreme Demon King wanted to expand the Demon Realm and ordered a super Majin named Rymus to create the universes; Rymus chose some Glind to watch over them as Supreme Kais. Later Abura, Dabura's father and predecessor, fearing the outside world, sealed the tunnels and restricted the Warp Lords. Many Glind, the Supreme Kai included, rebelled and left the Demon Realm. The five trees the Glind are born from have died: his people are doomed to extinction. The group sets off without noticing that Neva was there with them.
Our take
This is the mythology episode, and for longtime fans it is a small revolution: for the first time the series explains where the universes come from and why Supreme Kais exist. Toriyama had never explained this much, and he does it with the lightness of a fable told around a campfire. The Demon Realm's Namek, meanwhile, rewrites the Namekians' history, turning a peaceful people into former slaves on the run.
The other half is pure adventure, with the dogfight and the kraken, while Vegeta's jealousy toward Hybis adds a rare and welcome touch of family comedy. And the news that the Glind will die out gives the Supreme Kai a melancholy he never had in earlier series.
