The twentieth and final episode of Dragon Ball Daima, broadcast in Japan on February 28, 2025, closes the series with the decisive clash between Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Gomah, followed by a long epilogue. It aired the day before the first anniversary of Akira Toriyama's death, and it says goodbye the way his stories did: with a joke and a door left open.

Summary

As a Super Saiyan 4 and back in his adult body, Goku faces Gomah for the last time. He seems to have a slight edge, but the Third Eye repairs every wound. Finally Goku charges his most powerful Kamehameha, Gomah answers with an equally devastating attack, and the Saiyan wins: the blast tears straight through the king and, rising into the sky, punches through the border between the Second and First Worlds, so that the Second World's oceans start seeping through the gap.

Piccolo seizes the moment and strikes the back of Gomah's head twice, but is swatted away with a backhand before the third blow. The Third Eye starts healing the king again, and everyone rushes in too late. The one who settles it is Majin Kuu: dragged in by a torrent of energy, he hits Gomah three times in a row on the back of the head with the book of magic items. The eye pops loose, falls to the ground and Glorio crushes it underfoot. Gomah returns to normal, and the victors celebrate.

Arinsu arrives with the witch Marba and a seal to lock Gomah away for a hundred years. Piccolo points out that the king never tried to kill Dende, and the young guardian agrees, so the sentence drops to ninety-nine years; Degesu is sealed in with him, and the two pass the time playing video games. The Supreme Kai suggests his sister as the new ruler, but Arinsu declines, fearing she would be overthrown because of her weak magic. Neva notes that the throne goes to whoever defeated the king: that means Kuu, who happily accepts, names Arinsu his deputy and picks Duu, Neva, Marba, Glorio and King Kadan as ministers, ignoring Hybis' raised hand.

At Kadan Castle, Panzy gives Bulma the mineral she promised. Dende and Piccolo decline to stay in the Demon Realm, but Dende will ask the Namekians of New Namek if they want to move back. Vegeta is furious that Goku hid yet another transformation from him; Goku explains that he trained hard after the battle with Kid Buu without knowing whether it would work. On the way home the group stops at the bug shop. Bulma buys a whole barrel of bugs that make skin ten years younger, while Panzy finds a dusty jar holding two more Third Eyes. The shopkeeper explains that there were three, but two never sold because they were too expensive, and offers a discount, to everyone's horror.

Our take

It is a finale perfectly in tune with Daima. The battle is spectacular but does not drag, and the decisive blow comes not from Goku but from the unlikeliest fighter of all, Kuu, who becomes king by sheer chance. It is a classic Toriyama reversal, the same one that made Mr. Satan the savior of Earth in the Majin Buu Saga.

The epilogue matters as much as the fight: everyone finds their place, Vegeta stays Vegeta, and the shop from the early episodes closes the circle of the journey. The two Third Eyes for sale are the last joke, and also a final tribute to the humor of Akira Toriyama, who preferred to leave readers smiling rather than saying goodbye.
