The nineteenth episode of Dragon Ball Daima, broadcast in Japan on February 21, 2025, is the one many consider the high point of the series. The "betrayal" of the title is Glorio's betrayal of Arinsu: instead of making her queen, he uses the wish to give the heroes back their adult bodies. What follows is Vegeta's Super Saiyan 3 and the Super Saiyan 4 of a fully grown Goku.
Summary
The wish is granted: Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma, the Supreme Kai, Dende and everyone back on Earth return to their proper age, while a confused Arinsu watches the dragon bid farewell and vanish with the Dragon Balls. Goku suggests they face Gomah one at a time, and Vegeta insists on going first, since Goku already had his turn against Majin Duu.
As Vegeta attacks, Glorio apologizes to Arinsu. She reminds him that she rescued him from the Third World, then fires him and tells him to leave. Glorio thanks her for everything and runs to the others, but hesitates: he had hidden his ties to Arinsu and the real purpose of his mission. It is Panzy who runs up and pulls him toward the group, which welcomes him with smiles. They all thank him, and Goku, for the first time, calls him by his correct name.
Vegeta quickly gets used to his adult body, goes Super Saiyan and then Super Saiyan 3, and overwhelms Gomah with a relentless barrage. He drives him through the ring of rocks and hits him with a Final Flash at full power, which wins the clash against the beam the king fires from his mouth. But the Third Eye heals every wound: Gomah reappears unharmed and tells him that hitting him is pointless. Arinsu has a flash of insight and sends Kuu to fetch a book on magic items: the Third Eye comes loose if its wearer is struck three times in a row on the back of the head. Goku will fight, while Piccolo waits for the right opening.
With his Super Saiyan 3 spent, Vegeta stubbornly refuses to tag out. So Bulma steps in with the most effective threat possible: if he does not let someone else fight, she will never take a bath with him again. A horrified Vegeta withdraws on the spot. Goku enters and, as he did against Majin Buu, shows Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 one after another. Then he powers up further, sheds his top and lights up the Third and Second Worlds with his aura: it is Super Saiyan 4, seen in adult form for the first time.
Our take
The run through the Super Saiyan levels is a direct quote of the Majin Buu Saga, when Goku showed his transformations to Vegeta and Buu. Here, though, there is one step more, and anyone who grew up with Dragon Ball GT gets their adult Super Saiyan 4 back in a story by Toriyama. It is a moment built patiently and paid off in full.
The episode also matters for Glorio. His wish, the reverse of Pilaf's in GT, closes an arc that began in the second episode, and the group's welcome is moving without being sappy. And Bulma's threat to Vegeta proves that Daima can switch between epic and comedy even in the middle of the final battle.
