Free browser mini game: fly, fire ki blasts at waves of Saibamen and take down Nappa every five waves. Play with the keyboard or a finger on your phone.

Saibamen Blast is a vertical shooter: you fly over a rocky wasteland and fire ki blasts at waves of Saibamen, the little green fighters that pour down from above in ever-changing patterns. Some chase you and blow themselves up, some spit acid, others line up in formation and then dive at you. Every five waves, Nappa shows up in person.
How to play
- Computer: arrow keys or WASD to fly, hold Space to shoot. Enter to start, P to pause, M to mute.
- Phones and tablets: drag your finger anywhere on the screen and your fighter follows the gesture without hiding under your fingertip. Firing is automatic. Pause and sound have two big buttons in the bottom corners.
You start with three lives and get a short moment of invulnerability after every hit. Only the center of your body counts as a target, so you can slip closer to enemy shots than it looks.
The Saibamen
- Basic: they come down in rows or snaking lines; harmless alone, dangerous when they close off the gaps.
- Divers: they stop in a V formation, then swoop at you one after another.
- Spitters: darker green, they hang back near the top and lob aimed globs of acid.
- Kamikazes: wrapped in a red glow, they chase you and, once close, swell up and show a dashed circle: that is the blast radius. Shoot them first and they pop on the spot, and the explosion takes nearby Saibamen with it.
Power-ups
- Dragon Ball: 500 points. Collect all seven for 7,777 points and a cleared screen.
- Senzu bean: one extra life, up to five.
- Aura: for eight seconds you fire rapid spread shots, and your aura turns gold.
Nappa
Every five waves the boss arrives with his own health bar. He rotates three attacks: fans of shots aimed at you, a mouth beam announced by a dashed red line (sidestep as soon as you see it) and planting fresh Saibamen. Each time he returns he is tougher and more aggressive. Beating him is worth 5,000 points times the boss number.
Scoring and tips
Kills in quick succession build up your combo: every five enemies downed without a break raise the multiplier, up to x5. Every cleared wave adds a bonus, and at the end of a run you can put your name on the leaderboard.
- Stay low but keep moving: constant motion is the best defense against divers.
- Hit kamikazes when they bunch up: one well-placed explosion can wipe out half a wave.
- Save the aura for Nappa: spread fire cuts the fight time in half.
Saibamen in the series
In Dragon Ball Z, Saibamen grow from seeds planted in the ground: right after landing on Earth, Vegeta tells Nappa to plant six of them to test the planet's defenders. They look like small fry, but one of them grabs Yamcha and self-destructs, killing him. An enraged Krillin wipes out three in a single attack, and Piccolo takes care of the last one. The game is a nod to that scene: the red kamikazes are the deadliest of the bunch.
