The second episode of Dragon Ball Daima, broadcast in Japan on October 18, 2024, deals with the fallout of Gomah's wish: Goku and his friends are children, Dende has been taken and Earth has no usable Dragon Balls left. At the end, the character who gives the episode its name arrives: the demon Glorio, who has come specifically to recruit Goku.

Summary

Gomah wants to make two more wishes, but Shenron explains that first-time summoners only get one. The Dragon Balls turn to stone and scatter, and Gomah regrets not asking for the Third Eye straight away. To make sure Earth cannot undo his wish, he takes Dende, now a tiny child, back to the Demon Realm with him.

At Capsule Corporation, Goku and Vegeta drop out of the sky, still unable to control their new bodies. Those who were already kids, like Goten and Trunks, are now babies. The Supreme Kai senses a hostile presence at Kami's Lookout and Kibito teleports everyone there, Piccolo included. Mr. Popo, shrunk as well, explains the kidnapping and names Degesu, whom the Supreme Kai recognizes as his brother.

Mortals cannot freely enter the Demon Realm, but the Supreme Kai still has the spaceship that brought him to Earth before Buu's awakening. Kibito fetches it from the Sacred World of the Kai, only to find that years of neglect have left it dead. He brings over Bulma and Vegeta, and Bulma estimates ten days of repairs. While they wait, Goku trains to get used to a body with much shorter reach, then has an idea: he visits Korin, then Kame House, where he finds his Power Pole being used by Master Roshi as a clothesline.

That evening, as the group eats at the Lookout, an unknown ship lands. Out steps Glorio, a pale blue demon who asks Goku to come with him and defeat Gomah. He was sent by the King of the Third Demon World, who watched the battle with Buu on a magic monitor. Goku accepts and the Supreme Kai decides to go too. Vegeta wants to join them, but the ship only seats three: he will follow once Bulma finishes the repairs.

Our take

This is where Daima finds its tone. The shrinking is not just a gag: it changes how the characters move, and the sequence where Goku relearns how to fly and picks up the Power Pole again is an open tribute to the original series, when adventure mattered more than power levels. The pole hanging with Master Roshi's laundry is pure Toriyama.

Glorio enters like a secret agent, and the script plants doubts right away: why would a demon king help strangers? It is the start of an ambiguous relationship that will carry the whole series. Meanwhile the team splits in two, with Goku and the Supreme Kai scouting ahead and Vegeta left waiting, as so often happens to him.

Trivia
