Episode 107 of Dragon Ball Super, first broadcast in Japan on September 17, 2017, is Master Roshi's farewell to the Tournament of Power. Frost, Universe 6's answer to Frieza, tries to take revenge on Universe 7 with a well-built trick, and the old hermit finds the strength for one last gesture that saves Vegeta.

Summary

The episode opens with a flashback: before the tournament, Frost talked Champa into wiping his record clean in exchange for a Universe 6 victory, and above all a humiliating defeat for Universe 7. In the arena, the Grand Minister brings the Zenos up to date: thirty-six fighters remain, with Universes 6 and 7 holding eight each. Beerus notices that only two of Universe 4's four survivors are visible, and Whis worries the others may have special abilities.

Universe 11 has only three fighters left, but they are Jiren, Toppo and Dyspo. Maji-Kayo, the liquid warrior from Universe 3, ambushes them to gather intel on Jiren and is blown off the stage by a single gust of pressure, without a proper blow being thrown.

Frost, meanwhile, is hunting the most exhausted fighters, starting with Master Roshi. Goku tries to help, but Ribrianne blocks his way. Roshi attempts the Evil Containment Wave, the technique that seals an enemy in a jar, but misses the jar and Frost stays free. Just when it looks over, Vegeta steps in, not to save the old man but because Frost gets on his nerves. Then Magetta, Universe 6's lava robot, joins the fight; this time he has plugged his ears with magma so he cannot hear insults, his old weak spot.

Frost loudly hints that only a special technique could stop Magetta, and Roshi takes the bait with another Evil Containment Wave. That was the trap. Frost redirects the whirlwind at Vegeta and seals him inside the jar Roshi used earlier. Battered and spent, Roshi gathers what is left of his energy for one tiny beam: the first attempt misses, the second is steered back on target and shatters the jar. A furious Vegeta turns Super Saiyan Blue, clears one of Magetta's ears and hits him with an insult that makes him collapse. Frost vanishes in a puff of smoke, Magetta goes over the edge, and Vegeta tells Roshi to bow out before he dies. Roshi agrees and drops off the stage. In the stands Krillin feeds him a senzu bean, and Beerus, after a few jabs, admits he did well. Thirty minutes remain.

Our take

The tournament had already given Roshi his big episode in 105, but this is the real send-off, and it is cleverly written. Roshi does not win: he botches one containment wave, wastes another on Frost's trick, and lands his finest moment with the smallest attack of all, a thread of ki guided all the way to a glass jar. That is very Dragon Ball: technique over raw power.

The improvised pairing with Vegeta works too. The prince insists he is not there to save anyone, yet he is the one who tells Roshi to quit while he still can, and their exchange, the first real contact between the two in the saga, carries a gruff respect you do not expect. Beerus grudgingly praising him closes the circle.

Frost, on the other hand, remains a minor villain: cunning and petty enough, but all that scheming only sets the stage for the next episode, where he gets outsmarted by someone better at the game.
